Tuesday, the girls had their very first fieldtrip. They were excited and so was I, looking forward to the fun we'd have at the pumpkin patch. I'd been watching the weather all week, praying for good weather. Just two days before the trip it was so warm here, kids were wearing shorts. Of course on the day of the trip, it becomes cold and rainy. It rained the entire time we were there, and everything was muddy. I'm not sure if this pumpkin patch does different activities based on the weather, but all the things i though we were going to do, such as a wagon ride out to the patch, jumping in their hay bale maze, we didn't do any of that. Instead our trip to the patch consisted of the kids sitting under a picnic area where they got to touch fake neon orange chicken feathers, a strip of fake animal fur, fake eggs and a plastic wheel from a toy. The girls were not impressed. Next they took a quick trip thru the boo barn, which all the kids enjoyed and wanted to do twice but weren't allowed. Instead they had to sit down and drink a glass of juice, which meant my girls just sat because Melyssa doesn't drink juice and Juleigha only likes apple. After that they walked us up to a table that had a few different varities of squash on it and the "farmer" told the kids the names of them. Then the kids were walked in a quick circle to see some chickens, goats, rabbits and peacocks. Finally they were led to some bins full of little pumpkins where they were told to pick one out before heading back to the bus for the drive back to school. Totally not the trip i had envisioned...
